The case has shocked the community and serves as a grim reminder of how vulnerable young children can be when those responsible for their care fail them.

Sunshyne Davis, 25, and Robert White, 39, were indicted Wednesday in Kings County Supreme Court. Davis was arraigned before Justice Donald Leo, while White will be arraigned at a later date.

Both face charges of second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Details of the Alleged Abuse and Discovery

On March 9, 2025, the defendants allegedly dropped the boy, Kyng Davis, at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in East Flatbush.

They spoke briefly with medical staff before driving away. An autopsy later determined the child died from blunt force trauma combined with severe neglect, starvation, and dehydration.

At the time of the incident, Davis and White were reportedly living in White’s car. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated, “This innocent child allegedly suffered day after day, denied the most basic care and compassion. We will vigorously prosecute this case to secure justice for Kyng.”

Serious Charges and Legal Process

These are some of the toughest charges you’ll find under New York law. If someone’s convicted of second-degree murder, they’re looking at decades behind bars—maybe even life.

On top of that, a charge like endangering the welfare of a child means the person is also being held responsible for not keeping the child safe or meeting their basic needs.

Anytime a young child dies, the public pays attention. These cases get complicated fast, with all the medical records, witness stories, and forensic reports that come with them.

Both sides in court have to pick their way through all of that, and not a single detail can get overlooked.

The Broader Impact on Families

Cases like this really show what happens when child neglect or abuse isn’t stopped in time. The damage can be heartbreaking. They also remind us why the legal process has to be fair for everyone, whether you’re a victim’s family looking for justice or someone accused of a serious crime.

People caught up in these situations, be it parents, caregivers, or even the accused, always end up dealing with all kinds of stress and uncertainty.

And honestly, the legal system is a maze. Trying to handle it alone is tough, so having a good lawyer from the start matters a lot.

Sinmi Asomuyide, 33, used his badge and police tools to track the teen’s phone, handcuff her, and drive her to an empty parking lot.

The jury said he not only carried out the assault but also lied to investigators and deleted messages to try to hide what he did. He now faces the possibility of life in prison.

The case started when Asomuyide responded to a runaway call as a new officer. The girl later told investigators he picked her up, asked strange personal questions, and swapped numbers with her.

In another runaway incident, he showed up at her house, forced her into his squad car, and took her somewhere isolated. Federal prosecutors proved he violated her rights through kidnapping and abusive contact with a minor.

Breaking Down the Charges

This kind of federal case hits hard because it mixes abuse of power with sex crimes against a child.

The jury convicted him of deprivation of rights, witness tampering, and other counts. Things like phone tracking data, deleted apps, and the victim’s account played a big role.

Even officers who think they can control the story often find that digital trails and honest testimony catch up with them. Cases like this remind us how fast a position of trust can turn into a nightmare scenario in court.

Investigations That Hit Close to Home

In New York, we often see parallel situations where accusations fly against teachers, coaches, or even law enforcement. Investigators move fast—seizing phones, pulling records, and interviewing everyone around you.

One wrong word early on can lock in a tough defense later.

Real-Life Fallout from These Verdicts

When you get convicted in a case involving a minor, life changes overnight. Those are the rules about where you can live, who you can work with, and even simple stuff like visiting family.

And the emotional fallout? It slams into your relationships, no question.

In a city like New York, the public judgment doesn’t let up, no matter how much time passes. Even after the news stories move on, you’re still left picking up the pieces, trying to figure out what “normal” even means anymore.

Strong Defense Makes a Difference in New York

At NYC Criminal Lawyer, we’ve spent years in the trenches defending people facing serious criminal accusations right here in New York.

We dig into every piece of evidence, question how statements were taken, challenge searches, and push back against overzealous prosecutors. Whether it’s a local case or something with federal overlap, our approach is straightforward: protect your story and fight for the best possible outcome from day one.

If you or someone close to you is dealing with an investigation or charges involving sexual assault, child-related offenses, or misconduct claims, don’t wait.

Reach out for a free, confidential chat. Just drop your info on our site, and we’ll connect fast. We focus on real results when your freedom and reputation are on the line.

The incident has sparked strong criticism and raised fresh concerns about standards within the department.

Viral Photo Shows Clear Gang Signals

The undated picture, apparently taken inside a McDonald’s, shows two masked officers posing alongside a young man. One officer is clearly making the signature hand sign of the Mac Baller Brims, a violent subset of the Bloods, by crossing his middle finger over his ring finger. The second officer also appears to throw up a gang sign.

The image quickly spread online and triggered an official NYPD probe.

Officers Immediately Placed on Modified Duty

Both officers have been stripped of their firearms and shields while the Internal Affairs Bureau conducts its review.

One of the officers has been identified as Shane Cruz, who joined the NYPD in 2024 and was assigned to the 43rd Precinct in Soundview before being transferred to Brooklyn’s 73rd Precinct earlier this year. The second officer’s identity has not been publicly released.

Serious Questions About Conduct and Judgment

The Mac Baller Brims are well known for racketeering, drug dealing, shootings, and murders. Experts who reviewed the photo confirmed the signs appear authentic.

While some sources claim the officers were simply joking around with a kid they knew, others say the behavior is completely unacceptable for uniformed police, regardless of intent.

Even if it was just a joke, throwing up gang signs while on the job hurts people’s trust in the police and makes the whole department look bad.

Bigger Problems in the NYPD

This mess is happening right when the NYPD has made some hiring rules easier because they’re having trouble finding enough new officers.

They lowered the college credit requirements and changed some rules about marijuana. That has a lot of old-time officers and regular people worried. Stuff like this just makes people even more concerned about how they check new cops, how they train them, and if they’re really holding people accountable.

Some former NYPD bosses have echoed that this kind of thing can get an officer in big trouble, even fired, especially if they find any real ties to gangs.

At the end of the day, police officers are held to a higher standard because they carry badges and guns.

When that standard slips, it affects trust between the community and law enforcement across the city.

If you or a loved one is a police officer facing an internal affairs investigation, disciplinary charges, or any type of criminal allegation in New York City, you need experienced legal representation immediately.

Even little things that seem like no big deal can mess up your job and get you in real legal trouble.

At NYC Criminal Lawyer, we fight hard for both police officers and regular people who are being investigated or facing charges.

Our team knows how the system really works because we’ve seen it from the inside. We’ll fight hard for you to protect your rights, your job, and everything you’ve built.

Just reach out today for a private talk. Fill out our easy online form or give our office a call. We’re ready to jump in and handle your case the right way.

The family of a 16-year-old Long Island girl says she was raped in Brooklyn. It all began on March 10, 2026, when a 16-year-old girl from a tight-knit Orthodox Jewish family in Nassau County (Long Island), New York, took an Uber.

The ride was allegedly arranged/ordered via the man she had been communicating with on Snapchat.

The driver dropped her off alone in Bushwick, Brooklyn, without verifying her age or ensuring she was with an adult , which violates Uber’s policies on unaccompanied minors (drivers are supposed to check IDs for riders who appear underage and generally not transport minors alone without a special teen account).

The Assault and Threats

Once in Brooklyn, the girl met 26-year-old Ralfy Figueroa. Police say Figueroa had been pressuring her for weeks. He allegedly threatened her, saying he knew where she lived and would hurt her family if she didn’t meet him.

According to court papers, Figueroa forced the girl into sexual acts in his car, filmed it, and threatened her with guns.

The family says she was so traumatized that she is now getting mental health treatment out of state. Her mother told the court that if the videos ever became public, her daughter said she would kill herself.

Questions About Uber’s Responsibility

On April 15, FBI agents escorted Lancaster Vice Mayor Marvin Crist and City Councilmember Raj Malhi from their homes at gunpoint. Agents also searched Lancaster City Hall and the home of a Bel-Air developer during the operation.

Sources familiar with the investigation say the probe focuses on whether Crist and Malhi received money or other benefits from BYD, the China-based electric car and bus maker operating America’s largest electric bus factory in Lancaster.

The federal search warrant specifically sought evidence of “anything of value” provided by BYD, directly or indirectly, to elected officials, candidates, or political action committees.

Agents were also looking for information on government actions that the company sought or influenced.

Investigation Covers Several Years of Activity

The probe spans from 2018 to the present and includes a review of financial transactions, political contributions, and government decisions involving BYD.

Agents seized documents, phones, computers, and other electronic devices from the locations searched.

BYD has made significant investments in Lancaster, including the construction of a large electric bus factory that employs more than 750 people. The company supplies electric buses to Lancaster’s public fleet and several other cities in California.

No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed against the two officials. Neither Crist nor Malhi responded to requests for comment. Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris stated he was unaware of any wrongdoing and described the officials as “honorable.”

National Security Concerns Add to the Scrutiny

The investigation comes amid growing concerns about BYD, which has faced criticism over potential national security risks stemming from its Chinese origins. Some U.S. lawmakers have called for stricter restrictions on Chinese automakers, citing concerns about surveillance capabilities in their vehicles.

Witnesses described the scene as a “war zone” as gunfire erupted inside the Route 22 restaurant just before 9 p.m.

Authorities said the incident is now being investigated as part of the 100th mass shooting in the United States this year, according to Gun Violence Archive data.

Police Say Attack Appears Targeted as Suspects Remain at Large

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office said the shooting does not appear to be random, though officials have not released a motive.

No arrests have been made, and law enforcement officials say they are actively searching for the suspects involved.

Chaos Erupts as Witnesses Describe Gunmen and Panic

According to witness accounts, masked individuals entered the restaurant, forced their way behind the counter, and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

“It was a war zone,” one witness said through a family member speaking to CBS.

Video from the scene appears to show a suspect running through the parking lot, while dashcam footage captured customers fleeing in panic as shots were fired.

A Lyft driver named Martin said he heard multiple gunshots while nearby.

“I heard at least seven shots. It was very close. People were running everywhere,” he told ABC7.

Investigators were later seen processing the scene as forensic teams collected evidence from inside the restaurant.

Shooting Investigation Continues as Legal Help and Public Tips Are Sought

Six additional victims were injured in the attack. The shooting marks the 100th mass shooting in the United States this year, defined as an incident in which four or more people are killed or injured according to Gun Violence Archive data.

State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport said she was “horrified” by the violence and confirmed that a full investigation is underway.

“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families,” she wrote on X. “Gun violence has no place in our state.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, noting that tips leading to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.

According to the Department of Justice, one of the deceased and disgraced financier’s prison guards acted very suspiciously in the days leading up to the infamous murder suicide.

Investigators say the prison guard, who was in charge of Epstein’s unit, deposited $5,000 in cash into his bank account about 10 days before the inmate was found deceased. In November of 2019, Chase Bank flagged the deposits as “suspicious activity” and filed a report. Investigators found out that the $5,000 deposit was only the tip of the iceberg.

About 11 other large cash deposits were made into Tova Noel’s bank account. The first time this type of cash was deposited into the account was in December of 2018. In total, Noel made $11,880 in deposits. Noel just started working in Epstein’s unit weeks before the death.

While Noel should’ve been doing rounds every 30 minutes to check on Epstein and other inmates, she was instead browsing online. An investigation into her internet search history that night revealed Noel was shopping online for furniture. At around 5:42 A.M., she googled “latest on Epstein in jail.” Then, at 5:52 A.M., she allegedly searched for the same thing again. Eerily, Epstein was discovered deceased less than 40 minutes later.

Interestingly, the prison guard told FBI agents that she doesn’t remember looking up or Googling the inmate.

While nothing has been confirmed, an internal FBI briefing that was later released showed the agency suspected Noel might be the mysterious orange shape that’s spotted on the surveillance cam near Epstein’s cell that night. The report suggests that the blurry officer provided linens and extra inmate clothing to the unit, which were likely used by Epstein to finalize his story. No one has been able to clearly identify the blob, despite it being a huge source of debate within the FBI and the public.

Ultimately, Tova Noel was fired after the horrible incident. She was also arrested for falsifying records to claim she had checked on Epstein throughout the night of his suicide, but those charges were later dropped.

Falsifying Records as a Correctional Officer

In New York, correctional officers have historically faced serious, felony-level charges for falsifying records. When falsifying records leads to coverups for violent incidents like assaults, murders, or suicides, then the charges can result in up to 20 years in federal prison. Correctional officers can also face similar penalties if falsifying records leads to a coverup of misconduct, like not actually conducting rounds as is required.

On top of criminal consequences, these officers typically lose their jobs and whatever pensions, or retirement are associated with their position. In some cases, especially when convictions occur, the person can be permanently disqualified from working in law enforcement.

If you’ve been accused of falsifying records or committing another type of offense as a correctional officer, then it’s important to hire legal representation as soon as possible. Contact our office now to schedule a free consultation.

Unfortunately for Busfield, a tidal wave of past allegations, complaints, and never-before-shared testimony has emerged in light of the recent allegations.

Busfield has been involved in Hollywood for years. He’s best known for his roles in “Field of Dreams”, “Thirtysomething”, and “The West Wing”. Throughout the years, he’s been called a “creep” and faced lawsuits that ended in quiet settlements, but he’s never faced criminal charges until recently.

Just recently, it has come to light that Julia Roberts’ sister-in-law, Eliza Roberts, once voluntarily submitted a deposition for a court case involving Busfield. In her deposition, she described Busfield as a creep who would compulsively chase after women. She claimed that he had attempted to get her to have sexual relations with him despite him being married at the time. This deposition was provided in response to a lawsuit submitted by a 17-year-old girl who was accusing Busfield of sexual harassment on the set of “Little Big League”, where she was an actor and he was a director. Ultimately, this case was settled out of court in 1995 for an undisclosed sum of money.

In November 2024, an official investigation into Busfield’s actions was launched after officers with the Albuquerque Police Department were called out to the University of New Mexico Hospital by a doctor. Once they arrived, the doctor explained the situation.

That night, eleven-year-old twins who starred on the show “The Cleaning Lady” in 2024 had been admitted to the hospital with ‘suspicious’ injuries. After being questioned by the doctors, one of the children admitted that sexual abuse incidents had been ongoing since he was seven years old. Horrifically, the police department declined to press charges at the time.

One of the boys also stated that he was “very afraid” of Busfield when he was on set, but he didn’t tell anyone at the time because Busfield was the director. The youngster feared getting into trouble and also feared making the powerful director mad.

Later on, the case was later reopened when the same assault was re-reported twice more by one of the children’s counselors and his pediatrician. Now, Busfield is facing two counts of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse.

Sexual Conduct Against a Child in New York City

Under New York Law, getting charged with sexual contact with a minor can have serious consequences, but the severity of the penalties often depends on factors like the nature of the contact, the age of the child, and the perpetrator’s age. The most serious charge, sexual conduct in the first degree, is a class B felony, while a second-degree charge is a class D felony.

Child abuse charges also vary in severity based on the severity of the harm and the nature of the offense. Keep in mind that sexual offenses involving a child automatically result in mandatory registration as a sexual offender.

The United States Department of Justice is charging Flores with conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. Her husband, Maduro, faces an additional charge of narco-terrorism. The couple has been married for 12 years.

While some might not realize it initially, Flores was not an innocent party in her husband’s business dealings. The couple reportedly met while working with Hugo Chavez, Maduro’s predecessor, and it’s said that Flores was really the person behind the curtain and pulling the strings in Maduro’s Presidency. Flores also held the official title of head of intelligence in Venezuela at one point during her career. She’s been nicknamed Latin Lady Macbeth and First Warrior. She also refers to herself as a “combatant.”

According to Flores’s legal representative, Flores sustained substantial injuries when U.S. forces raided the compound in Caracas and arrested her. The raid also reportedly took the lives of many within the couple’s protection squad. Flores appeared in court with bandages over her face and complained of bruising on her ribs.

She pleaded not guilty to all the charges against her.

A Dramatic and Questionable Capture

If you ever find yourself facing criminal charges in a foreign country, then it’s crucial that you quickly hire a global lawyer to represent you. In the average situation, the U.S. Department of Justice would file an indictment, and the individual would be arrested by the law enforcement agents in the foreign country. From there, the person would face an extradition hearing. If the court agrees to extradite the suspect, then they would be transferred to the U.S. to face justice.

In Flores’s case, she was essentially seized and captured by U.S. operatives and brought to the U.S. Some individuals have questioned the legitimacy of the capture, but the U.S. Attorney General has claimed that the president’s Article II powers allowed for the operation to take place.

What’s more, the U.S. doesn’t recognize Maduro as the legitimate ruler of Venezuela, so it wouldn’t be considered a valid legal argument for him or his wife to claim sovereign immunity.

It’s highly likely that all of these challenges will come up in court throughout the couple’s future hearings.

One key advantage of facing charges in America is that accused individuals have the right to hire legal counsel.

Reports show that the victim, a 39-year-old woman, left her 2022 Porsche SUV running on 15th Street and Union Square East. Jones allegedly took advantage of the situation at around 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 12th. He hopped in the car and took off.

Little did the suspect know that the victim had a car tracking app on her cell phone. When she alerted police to the situation, they quickly located the suspect.

The authorities approached Jones and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, Jones attempted to flee. Officers followed the suspect for about two miles. While speeding off, he struck three vehicles: a 2019 Audi Sedan, a 2016 Audi SUV, and a 2024 Cadillac SUV. The high-impact collision caused the Porsche to flip over. The crash occurred around 50th and Lexington in Midtown, Manhattan.

Jones was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The Cadillac was carrying three people: a 39-year-old woman, a 30-year-old male, and a 56-year-old male. None of these individuals was injured. Fortunately, the other vehicles were empty when they were struck.

Jones is facing multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, reckless driving, driving without a license, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Jones has reportedly been arrested twice before, both times on assault charges.

Grand Theft Auto in New York

Grand theft auto charges in New York are taken very seriously. Since grand theft auto is considered larceny, the penalties for a conviction depend on the vehicle’s value and the person’s criminal history.

In general, all grand theft auto charges are levied as felonies. Stealing a car that’s worth $100-$3,000 could result in prison time of up to four years, and taking a car that’s worth $3,000-$50,000 could result in up to seven years in jail. Stealing a vehicle that’s valued at $50,000 is a Class C felony that could result in up to 15 years in prison.

A felony conviction will lead to penalties that extend beyond a prison sentence.

For one, the released inmate will likely need to serve out a period of probation before being completely released from the correctional justice system. Additionally, a felony conviction will result in the loss of the right to possess a firearm, vote, or hold public office.

If you’ve been accused of committing a felony in New York, then it’s important to hire a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Here at the Bukh Law Firm, our team is prepared to fight for you.
