A Brooklyn mother and her boyfriend have been indicted in the heartbreaking death of her 3-year-old son, who authorities say suffered repeated beatings, starvation, and neglect.

Sunshyne Davis, 25, and Robert White, 39, were indicted Wednesday in Kings County Supreme Court. Davis was arraigned before Justice Donald Leo, while White will be arraigned at a later date.

On March 9, 2025, the defendants allegedly dropped the boy, Kyng Davis, at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in East Flatbush.
They spoke briefly with medical staff before driving away. An autopsy later determined the child died from blunt force trauma combined with severe neglect, starvation, and dehydration.
At the time of the incident, Davis and White were reportedly living in White’s car. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated, “This innocent child allegedly suffered day after day, denied the most basic care and compassion. We will vigorously prosecute this case to secure justice for Kyng.”
