The United States Department of Justice is charging Flores with conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices, and possession of machine guns and destructive devices. Her husband, Maduro, faces an additional charge of narco-terrorism. The couple has been married for 12 years.

While some might not realize it initially, Flores was not an innocent party in her husband’s business dealings. The couple reportedly met while working with Hugo Chavez, Maduro’s predecessor, and it’s said that Flores was really the person behind the curtain and pulling the strings in Maduro’s Presidency. Flores also held the official title of head of intelligence in Venezuela at one point during her career. She’s been nicknamed Latin Lady Macbeth and First Warrior. She also refers to herself as a “combatant.”

According to Flores’s legal representative, Flores sustained substantial injuries when U.S. forces raided the compound in Caracas and arrested her. The raid also reportedly took the lives of many within the couple’s protection squad. Flores appeared in court with bandages over her face and complained of bruising on her ribs.

She pleaded not guilty to all the charges against her.

A Dramatic and Questionable Capture

If you ever find yourself facing criminal charges in a foreign country, then it’s crucial that you quickly hire a global lawyer to represent you. In the average situation, the U.S. Department of Justice would file an indictment, and the individual would be arrested by the law enforcement agents in the foreign country. From there, the person would face an extradition hearing. If the court agrees to extradite the suspect, then they would be transferred to the U.S. to face justice.

In Flores’s case, she was essentially seized and captured by U.S. operatives and brought to the U.S. Some individuals have questioned the legitimacy of the capture, but the U.S. Attorney General has claimed that the president’s Article II powers allowed for the operation to take place.

What’s more, the U.S. doesn’t recognize Maduro as the legitimate ruler of Venezuela, so it wouldn’t be considered a valid legal argument for him or his wife to claim sovereign immunity.

It’s highly likely that all of these challenges will come up in court throughout the couple’s future hearings.

One key advantage of facing charges in America is that accused individuals have the right to hire legal counsel.

These snapshots showed Combs in an orange prison beanie and a navy blue jacket. One thing that shocked the public was how Combs now has a full face of gray hair, revealing how the stress of his trial and prison life has really impacted him.

Combs was sentenced to serve four years and two months behind bars after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. On top of his prison sentence, he was also ordered to pay a fine of $500,000 to the court. Another important aspect of his sentence is his involuntary participation in programs that are designed to address substance abuse issues and mental health concerns.

The sentence for Combs is extremely lenient, and the deal has drawn a lot of criticism from the public. Despite that, he continues to draw sympathy and compassion from the media, former friends, and acquaintances. Charlucci Finney, a long-time friend of the rapper, for instance, recently spoke with journalists and conveyed Diddy’s jail stories.

He told the media that the rapper once woke up “with a knife to his throat,” while he was at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Fox News also recently published a story highlighting how Combs was served a burger and cheese pizza behind bars for his birthday dinner.

Surprisingly, Combs was allowed to celebrate because he was served a cake made by his fellow inmates.

As of now, Diddy will remain incarcerated until at least May of 2028.

How Did Diddy Get Such a Light Sentence?

While that release date might seem far off, the sentence Diddy received is light compared to the charges he was being accused of committing. One of the main reasons that Combs was able to secure such a light sentence was that he was acquitted of many of his most serious charges, like sex trafficking and racketeering. A jury of Combs’ peers found him not guilty of everything other than the two charges related to transportation to engage in prostitution.

Are you currently facing criminal charges in New York? If so, then your best option is to consult with a quality defense attorney who can potentially help you secure either a not guilty verdict or a light/reduced sentence.

Congresswoman Greene has been outspoken about her desire to expose the Epstein sex trafficking ring, and she isn’t afraid to use her political position to do so.

She’s been pushing for the passage of House Resolution 581, which would release all the Epstein files to the public. Over 200 democrats signed the passage of this bill, but only four Republicans (including Greene) supported it. The other Republicans who supported the bill were Representative Lauren Boebert, Representative Nancy Mace, and Representative Massie. Other notable females to support the bill includes Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Nancy Pelosi.

By “Epstein files”, the bill means that all the documents, investigative materials, communications, and unclassified records should be disclosed, along with any details that were learned during meetings and interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell.

Just recently, she posted a long message on the social media platform X to her supporters. In the detailed report, she reiterated that she is a very happy person and would never consider taking her life or harming herself.

She warned her constituents that if something were to happen to her, they should immediately start investigating which “foreign government or powerful people” executed the attack. She further stated that if something does happen to her, it would be done in an effort to suppress “the information” she has from becoming public. Then, she cryptically added, “The People understand what I’m saying.”

Greene thinks she will specifically be targeted because she’s joining together with democrats over this issue. In fact, a recent joint press conference where bipartisan members came together was one of the largest press conferences in recent history.

Sex Crimes in New York

In New York, sex crimes are taken extremely seriously. Sex crimes encompass a wide range of behaviors like forcible touching, sexual abuse, rape, nonconsensual sexual touching, and sexual conduct against a child.

Typically, getting convicted of a sex crime will wreak havoc on a person’s life. Not only will the individual be subject to criminal consequences that will likely include jail time and financial fines, but they will also face penalties after they get released. This special class of offenders must register as a sex offender even once they serve their time in jail. The public sex offender registry will list your name, address, and previous conviction. You will likely be required to stay away from certain areas and occupations, too.

To avoid these consequences, the best thing you can do is hire a solid criminal defense attorney to help you avoid a conviction. Here at the Bukh Law Firm, our team is prepared to advocate and fight for you.

According to the governor, the suspect is in custody, but he is not being cooperative with investigators. He has not confessed to the crime. In contrast, Robinson’s family, friends, and romantic partner are all cooperating with the FBI in its investigation. The governor also confirmed the ongoing rumors that Robinson’s housemate and boyfriend identifies as transgender going from male to female. He further stated that this fact may or may not be tied to the motive, which police are still working to uncover.

During the interview, the governor also stated that Robinson regularly entertained leftist ideology that left him “deeply indoctrinated.” The 22-year-old grew up in a conservative household but had a very different perspective from his family.

Friends and family members told authorities that Robinson had become increasingly political over the past few years.

Governor Cox implied that social media and algorithms likely played a massive role in “radicalizing” and “indoctrinating” the suspect. In the interview, he went on to explain how social media directly impacts the younger generation and has become a “cancer” over the past decade.

Robinson was arrested after a few details emerged. For one, he implied involvement in the shooting to a family member. The family member reached out to a friend who then told the police about the incriminating statement. What’s more, Robinson’s father later identified him in FBI photographs of the suspect.

A family member also spoke to authorities and confirmed that they had directly spoken to the suspect about Charlie Kirk coming to the university. During the conversation, Robinson said that Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.

Utah is a state that utilizes capital punishment, meaning it’s possible for Robinson to get sentenced to the death penalty as a result of his actions.

How to Handle Criminal Charges and an Arrest

Right now, Robinson has made the decision not to cooperate with authorities. As of September 17th, Robinson has not hired an attorney, and a lawyer has not yet been assigned to represent him. Robinson appeared in an initial hearing via videolink. He was wearing an anti-suicide vest and did not speak at all other than to state his name for the court.

Robinson has been charged with felony aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. During this hearing, prosecutors stated they intend to pursue the death penalty.

Misdemeanor theft, for instance, is reported to be happening 60% more often than it was in 2021.

Tragically, over Labor Day weekend in 2025, at least four individuals were fatally wounded, and 31 others were injured in shootings in the city. Just one weekend before Labor Day, between August 22nd and August 25th, six people were killed and at least 24 were injured in similar shootings.

These violent shootings, according to President Trump, must be addressed. The President has told the current governor, JB Pritzker, that he needs to get the violence under control or relinquish control to the federal government. Governor JB Pritzker has been adamant that he doesn’t need federal assistance fighting the crime throughout Illinois, but President Trump has proclaimed the opposite. President Trump has also told the Governor that if he doesn’t curb violent murder rates, he might deploy the National Guard to the city.

This move wouldn’t be unprecedented, considering President Trump has already deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. to crack down on crime. He’s also suggested that the military might appear in New York City, Oakland, and Baltimore.

Could the National Guard Come to NYC? Know Your Rights

Under the Posse Comitatus Act, the federal government is restricted in its ability to use the U.S. military for domestic law enforcement purposes. Under most circumstances, the National Guard does not have the legal authority to make citizen arrests unless the state’s governor has explicitly granted them law enforcement powers during a state emergency.

When the President opts to send the National Guard to a city or state, they are subject to the Posse Comitatus Act, which means they only have limited authority. They can’t arrest citizens, but can perform supportive roles like securing areas or controlling crowds. Local police will be the only enforcement agency authorized to make arrests.

There is one important exception to this law, though. The National Guard is authorized to temporarily detain citizens during an unfolding security incident and when local law enforcement officers are not present.

If you’re a citizen in New York, then it’s important to understand the law and your rights. Already, a federal judge has ruled against President Trump’s use of National Guard Troops in Los Angeles earlier this year, saying that it was a violation of federal law. Right now, courts will be filing an injunction to stop the President from committing similar acts in the city moving forward.

Considering the Governor of New York doesn’t agree with the National Guard deployment, it’s unlikely he would declare an emergency and authorize them to make arrests.

The incident resulted in three fatalities and left nine others seriously wounded. Now, police are seeking out any information about the incident and the alleged culprits.

Authorities were first made aware of the incident when they received a frantic 911 call around 3:30 A.M. The caller told the 911 responder about the shooting, and police rushed out to the Taste of the City Lounge. Once they arrived, authorities discovered approximately a dozen injured individuals. Emergency responders declared one 19-year-old deceased at the scene. Everyone else was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. A short time later, two other victims, one 27-year-old male and one 35-year-old man, were declared deceased.

Once they spoke with witnesses, detectives confirmed that the hookah club was packed when the gunmen opened fire. The deceased 19-year-old apparently got into a verbal dispute with the deceased 35-year-old.

Witnesses told police that the 35-year-old is a suspected member of the Folks Nations gang. During the altercation, both individuals pulled out their weapons and began shooting at each other. Two other unidentified men also took out their guns and started shooting, too. Patrons immediately panicked and fled, many of them getting struck by bullets on the way out.

Over 42 shell casings were collected at the scene, including multiple bullets from a .9mm and some from a .45 caliber weapon. The deceased 27 year old appears to have been an innocent bystander who was simply caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Many other innocent victims were shot. The oldest injured victim was 61 years old.

Authorities later said in a press conference that they believe the shooting was gang-related. They also said they recovered at least one ditched weapon near the scene that they believe was used in the attack.

Discharging a Firearm in New York: What to Expect if You’re Charged

If you get charged with discharging a firearm in New York, then you could face serious penalties. Being involved in a shooting, even if it doesn’t result in injuries or property damage, is still considered a class a misdemeanor. This type of crime could result in a sentence of up to a year in jail. When that shooting endangers someone else, it’s immediately upgraded to a class D felony. This could result in a prison sentence of up to seven years.

If someone actually is injured or killed in the shooting, then you could face very serious repercussions. Both assault with a deadly weapon and manslaughter are considered felony charges.

It’s also important to note that any crime that’s committed in New York with the added element of being gang-related is automatically treated more seriously. Being gang affiliated is considered an aggravating factor, which could impact potential bail and your ultimate sentence.

According to reports, officers in charge of patrolling the park near Riverside Drive were doing their job on the night of the incident when they found Ennis drinking a beer from a paper bag.

Officers attempted to approach the suspect and ask for his ID, but Ennis told the police that he lived across the street and didn’t have any identification on him. Ennis told the police that he would be happy to go get his ID or call a friend to bring him his ID, but the authorities said they would instead bring him to the station to verify his identity.

That’s when the interaction took a turn for the worse. Ennis had already spent 25 years in prison after being implicated in a violent drug ring back in the 1990s. Since serving his time, Ennis has reportedly got his life together and was working a shift just before being approached by the police. As you’d expect, Ennis was terrified about the potential of going back to jail, so he tried to run away.

One of the officers tackled Ennis to the ground and landed heavily on his chest. Ennis hit his head and was bleeding profusely when he told authorities that he couldn’t breathe. Ennis tragically passed away as a result of cardiac arrest at the scene.

After reviewing the body cam footage, authorities determined that the officers followed procedures and did not act overly aggressively. Neither officer involved in the takedown has been disciplined or removed from their patrol units.

Journalists looking into the situation discovered that the officer who tackled Ennis was new to the force, but his partner, who was also at the scene, had already been investigated twice for abuse of authority and once for using physical force against a woman during his career.

Abuse of Authority and Excessive Force

According to the Eighth Amendment, accused suspects have a right to be free from excessive or inappropriate force. When it comes to a police interaction, authorities do have the right to use force, but it must be equal and comparable to the amount of force objectively reasonable to control a situation. If a suspect is utilizing or threatening to use deadly force, then an equal police response is warranted. If a suspect isn’t acting threateningly, however, then the police should not be using deadly or excessive force to control the situation.

If you believe your rights have been violated during an arrest, then it’s critical to get in touch with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can help you unpack what happened and determine whether you have any legal recourse. The right lawyer will also help you figure out the best way to defend yourself against any pending charges.

What started as small protests quickly devolved into chaos and violence, with the protests now lasting for over six days.

The situation in Los Angeles has escalated to such a degree that Mayor Bass has ordered all citizens to obey a curfew that runs from 8 P.M. until 6 A.M on the night of June 10th.

Anyone who does not obey this order is subject to being arrested. So far, the Los Angeles police have been making mass arrests for five days straight.

The danger of the situation was highlighted live on TV when an Australian news reporter was covering the situation. The reporter, Lauren Tomasi, was reporting on the stand-off when things suddenly and “rapidly deteriorated”. LAPD officers were riding on horseback and firing rubber bullets at the protesters when one of those bullets struck the news correspondent in the leg. The reporter can be seen yelping in pain before getting back to her job reporting.

Since that incident occurred, the protests have only escalated further. President Trump made the decision to send out over 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to help protect federal property and personnel.

The military is not authorized to make arrests, but they are there to help support LAPD as they continue to apprehend offenders.

Crimes Related to Rioting

According to social media posts, some provocateurs hope to spread these protests further across more states. This “No Kings” movement is set to bring protests to other major cities, including potential demonstrations in New York state.

It’s important to understand that citizens do have the right to peacefully protest, but they can incur several types of criminal charges when they engage in violent, reckless, or tumultuous behaviors. In New York, similar types of protests can lead to charges like rioting in the first- or second-degree, inciting a riot, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct, or criminal anarchy.

These charges range in severity. Inciting a riot, unlawful assembly, and riot in the second degree are all misdemeanors, but first-degree rioting and criminal anarchy are serious felonies. Disorderly conduct is typically the least of these charges and only amounts to a civil violation.

Criminal anarchy is levied when a protestor advocates the overthrowing of the current form of government by violence. First-degree rioting is levied when at least ten or more people engage in intentional violent and reckless conduct, which creates a risk of public alarm and causes injuries or substantial property damage. A felony conviction will carry lifelong consequences, like a total loss of your right to vote or possess firearms.

Considering what’s at stake, it might be best to consult with an attorney before joining any No Kings protest. You’ll also want to immediately contact an attorney if you get charged with any protest-related crime.

Diddy” Combs’ ongoing criminal hearing, witnesses have played a crucial role in keeping the suspect behind bars without the possibility of being bailed out. One witness, P. Diddy’s ex-assistant, has provided extensive testimony to the court, but the former rapper’s legal team has cast doubt on her stories by bringing up social media posts that she made herself.

Court records show that Diddy’s defense attorney Brian Steel asked the witness about Instagram posts that speak lovingly about the alleged perpetrator after he reportedly raped her. In some of the posts, the woman called Diddy “my brother,” “friend for life,” and “my mentor”. In one specific post that was from 2013, the victim was featured giving birth to a fake baby with Diddy playing the role of a doctor. In the caption of this post, the victim wrote “Shout out to my mentor. Thank you for always letting me give birth to my dreams.”

This post was made years after an alleged attack that the victim claims happened in 2009. The victim said Diddy forcibly kissed her and raped her at his birthday party. Then, she said many more sexual assaults happened numerous times over several years.

In another social media post, the victim wrote “love you” to Diddy and also thanked him for “continuing to inspire me every day.”

As part of the questioning process, Diddy’s defense attorney asked why the victim made such positive posts about someone who committed such atrocities against her. The victim, who is going by the false name “Mia” in court, testified that she used Instagram to highlight the “highs” of her life and also make posts to show how great her life was even if it wasn’t true.

Mia reportedly worked as Diddy’s assistant from 2009 to 2017. Due to the way she was treated, she now claims she can’t work due to extensive trauma.

Mia also confirmed to police that she was contacted by one of Diddy’s former bodyguards days after Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie, filed a lawsuit against him. Mia confirmed that the bodyguard only reached out to her to try to get her in touch with Diddy.

How Accurate is Eyewitness Testimony?

Eyewitness testimony is not always entirely accurate, especially because a witness’s perception of events may not entirely align with reality. As a result of this, it’s very common for eyewitness testimony to be highly scrutinized in court when used as evidence.

In Diddy’s trial, eyewitness testimony has been critical. That said, it’s not surprising that his defense attorney is employing several strategies to cast doubt on Mia’s claims.

In similar cases, a defense attorney can try to cast doubt on eyewitness testimony by highlighting how fallible memories are, pointing out inconsistencies in statements, exploring biases, and presenting contradictory evidence. These strategies can cast doubt on the validity and strength of a person’s testimony.

The video footage shows the inside of a jewelry store being reportedly ransacked by a thief before a citizen rushed into the store and tackled him to the ground.

According to reports, 31-year-old Anthony Haby was walking and shopping at Bendigo Marketplace with his partner, Jane Fleming, when they heard screams coming from the Stearns Showcase Jewelers. Then, the couple heard what they believed to be gunshots.

Rather than fleeing, Haby immediately ran into the store and confronted the alleged robber. The suspect can be seen with one of his arms inside the glass display before getting tackled to the ground by Haby. Haby pinned the man down to the ground while Jane helped usher the staff outside of the store to safety. Haby kept the suspect detained until the police arrived a few minutes later.

As police took control of the situation, Haby began comforting staff members who were distraught over the ordeal. According to eyewitnesses, Haby thought the suspect was carrying a gun and had fired off shots, but luckily, the noises he heard were from the suspect smashing a hammer into the displays. Despite thinking his life was at risk, Haby still made the decision to jump into the action and take on the role of hero.

The suspect was taken into police custody and had an initial hearing at Bendigo Magistrates Court. He did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until August.

Facing a Citizen’s Arrest: What Are Your Rights?

While it’s commendable to try to help a fellow human in need, it’s always important to weigh out the risks of getting involved.

Vigilantes who attempt to conduct a citizen’s arrest are putting themselves in an awkward position, since detaining another adult may or may not be legal depending on the circumstances.

Here in New York, for instance, citizen’s arrests are no longer considered legal. In 2023, specific legislation was passed to curb these vigilante-type efforts. In New York State, law enforcement professionals have the exclusive right to detain other adults and make arrests. This law was passed after Ahmaud Arbery was fatally injured during an attempted citizen’s arrest in Georgia. The situation was extremely controversial considering the racial undertones of the whole ordeal and law enforcement’s incentive to side with the vigilantes.

There is one exception to this law. A private person can use physical, but not deadly, force to prevent the escape of someone who just committed a felony in that person’s presence.

Under this law, if a person attempts to make a citizen’s arrest on someone who turns out to be innocent of the perceived charges, then the vigilante can be subject to a lawsuit.

Police officers in New York are also held to a very high standard. They are only authorized to detain or arrest citizens under specific circumstances.
