Typically, attorneys will not be present. You will need to check in on the first floor to find out which courtroom your case is assigned to. Be sure to have this original paperwork with you (keeping copies for yourself):
- Cashier’s receipt showing the fine and/or surcharge has been paid
- Program completion certificate (if applicable)
- Completion letter regarding community service (if applicable)
- Any other documents you may be instructed to bring with you
Go to the courtroom assigned and give your documents to the court officer. Often, you will not be called before the judge. If the court officer asks to speak to your attorney, call us at 212-729-1632. We will be in court within 20 minutes.
If you do not have the money to cover the fines, or if your community service is not completed, you are still required to go to court on the assigned date. Talk to a court officer informing them of the situation and you typically will be allowed a few months to get in compliance. Do NOT miss the assigned date. You MUST return to court to finish compliance — or be given another date if needed.
