Reports show that the victim, a 39-year-old woman, left her 2022 Porsche SUV running on 15th Street and Union Square East. Jones allegedly took advantage of the situation at around 3:00 P.M. on Friday, December 12th. He hopped in the car and took off.

Little did the suspect know that the victim had a car tracking app on her cell phone. When she alerted police to the situation, they quickly located the suspect.

The authorities approached Jones and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, Jones attempted to flee. Officers followed the suspect for about two miles. While speeding off, he struck three vehicles: a 2019 Audi Sedan, a 2016 Audi SUV, and a 2024 Cadillac SUV. The high-impact collision caused the Porsche to flip over. The crash occurred around 50th and Lexington in Midtown, Manhattan.

Jones was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The Cadillac was carrying three people: a 39-year-old woman, a 30-year-old male, and a 56-year-old male. None of these individuals was injured. Fortunately, the other vehicles were empty when they were struck.

Jones is facing multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, reckless driving, driving without a license, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Jones has reportedly been arrested twice before, both times on assault charges.

Grand Theft Auto in New York

Grand theft auto charges in New York are taken very seriously. Since grand theft auto is considered larceny, the penalties for a conviction depend on the vehicle’s value and the person’s criminal history.

In general, all grand theft auto charges are levied as felonies. Stealing a car that’s worth $100-$3,000 could result in prison time of up to four years, and taking a car that’s worth $3,000-$50,000 could result in up to seven years in jail. Stealing a vehicle that’s valued at $50,000 is a Class C felony that could result in up to 15 years in prison.

A felony conviction will lead to penalties that extend beyond a prison sentence.

For one, the released inmate will likely need to serve out a period of probation before being completely released from the correctional justice system. Additionally, a felony conviction will result in the loss of the right to possess a firearm, vote, or hold public office.

If you’ve been accused of committing a felony in New York, then it’s important to hire a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Here at the Bukh Law Firm, our team is prepared to fight for you.

According to the governor, the suspect is in custody, but he is not being cooperative with investigators. He has not confessed to the crime. In contrast, Robinson’s family, friends, and romantic partner are all cooperating with the FBI in its investigation. The governor also confirmed the ongoing rumors that Robinson’s housemate and boyfriend identifies as transgender going from male to female. He further stated that this fact may or may not be tied to the motive, which police are still working to uncover.

During the interview, the governor also stated that Robinson regularly entertained leftist ideology that left him “deeply indoctrinated.” The 22-year-old grew up in a conservative household but had a very different perspective from his family.

Friends and family members told authorities that Robinson had become increasingly political over the past few years.

Governor Cox implied that social media and algorithms likely played a massive role in “radicalizing” and “indoctrinating” the suspect. In the interview, he went on to explain how social media directly impacts the younger generation and has become a “cancer” over the past decade.

Robinson was arrested after a few details emerged. For one, he implied involvement in the shooting to a family member. The family member reached out to a friend who then told the police about the incriminating statement. What’s more, Robinson’s father later identified him in FBI photographs of the suspect.

A family member also spoke to authorities and confirmed that they had directly spoken to the suspect about Charlie Kirk coming to the university. During the conversation, Robinson said that Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate.

Utah is a state that utilizes capital punishment, meaning it’s possible for Robinson to get sentenced to the death penalty as a result of his actions.

How to Handle Criminal Charges and an Arrest

Right now, Robinson has made the decision not to cooperate with authorities. As of September 17th, Robinson has not hired an attorney, and a lawyer has not yet been assigned to represent him. Robinson appeared in an initial hearing via videolink. He was wearing an anti-suicide vest and did not speak at all other than to state his name for the court.

Robinson has been charged with felony aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering, and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. During this hearing, prosecutors stated they intend to pursue the death penalty.

If you ever get arrested, then your best move is to hire a lawyer regardless of the severity of your charges. It’s never a good idea to face criminal charges without a legal advocate, especially if you’re potentially facing consequences like the death penalty or life in prison.

Misdemeanor theft, for instance, is reported to be happening 60% more often than it was in 2021.

Tragically, over Labor Day weekend in 2025, at least four individuals were fatally wounded, and 31 others were injured in shootings in the city. Just one weekend before Labor Day, between August 22nd and August 25th, six people were killed and at least 24 were injured in similar shootings.

These violent shootings, according to President Trump, must be addressed. The President has told the current governor, JB Pritzker, that he needs to get the violence under control or relinquish control to the federal government. Governor JB Pritzker has been adamant that he doesn’t need federal assistance fighting the crime throughout Illinois, but President Trump has proclaimed the opposite. President Trump has also told the Governor that if he doesn’t curb violent murder rates, he might deploy the National Guard to the city.

This move wouldn’t be unprecedented, considering President Trump has already deployed the National Guard in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. to crack down on crime. He’s also suggested that the military might appear in New York City, Oakland, and Baltimore.

Could the National Guard Come to NYC? Know Your Rights

Under the Posse Comitatus Act, the federal government is restricted in its ability to use the U.S. military for domestic law enforcement purposes. Under most circumstances, the National Guard does not have the legal authority to make citizen arrests unless the state’s governor has explicitly granted them law enforcement powers during a state emergency.

When the President opts to send the National Guard to a city or state, they are subject to the Posse Comitatus Act, which means they only have limited authority. They can’t arrest citizens, but can perform supportive roles like securing areas or controlling crowds. Local police will be the only enforcement agency authorized to make arrests.

There is one important exception to this law, though. The National Guard is authorized to temporarily detain citizens during an unfolding security incident and when local law enforcement officers are not present.

If you’re a citizen in New York, then it’s important to understand the law and your rights. Already, a federal judge has ruled against President Trump’s use of National Guard Troops in Los Angeles earlier this year, saying that it was a violation of federal law. Right now, courts will be filing an injunction to stop the President from committing similar acts in the city moving forward.

Considering the Governor of New York doesn’t agree with the National Guard deployment, it’s unlikely he would declare an emergency and authorize them to make arrests.

The discovery was made just a few hours after the child’s father contacted police to report her kidnapping.

Investigators say that the minor’s father called police around 9:58 P.M. on Saturday, June 19th. 45-year-old Luciano Frattolin told police the last time he saw his daughter was at Lake George while they were fishing together.

He also suggested that she was abducted by someone in a white van. An Amber Alert was immediately issued, noting that the girl was in imminent danger of being harmed or killed.

As the police searched for the youngster, other investigators began questioning Luciano. They learned that Luciano and his daughter were both residents of Canada but visiting New York on vacation. They also found multiple “inconsistencies” within the timeline of events leading up to the youngster’s disappearance.

Soon, the investigation was handed over to the state police, who promptly determined that there was no indication of an abduction.

Authorities ultimately discovered the youngster, now identified as Melina Galanis Frattolin, about 30 miles away in Ticonderoga the following day. Forest Rangers discovered the victim hidden under a log in a shallow portion of a pond. An autopsy revealed that she passed away as a result of asphyxia from drowning, and her death was ruled a homicide.

Frattolin was arrested and charged with both second-degree murder and the concealment of a corpse. He is being held at the Essex County Jail. During an initial hearing, he pleaded not guilty.

Second-Degree Murder in New York

In New York, an individual can be found guilty of second-degree murder when it’s determined that they caused the death of another person intentionally or recklessly. This crime is the most serious type of felony, classified as a Class A-I. A conviction could result in a life sentence behind bars.

The only charge more serious than this one is first-degree murder, which also includes the factor of planning out the crime and premeditating the murder. There are multiple types of murder-related charges that are less serious, though, including manslaughter, aggravated manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide.

If you ever get caught up in a legal situation where you could potentially face charges related to the death of another person, then it’s critical to contact a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Don’t delay in seeking out representation, especially considering the severity of the charges.

An attorney will quickly get to work in helping you identify your best options and informing you on how to best navigate your situation. They’ll help you work towards potentially reducing your charges or crafting a solid defense strategy to secure a not guilty verdict.

What the gentleman didn’t know was that three men were lurking nearby, ready to strike.

As the victim exited his car, three males jumped him. One of the males flashed what the victim described as a black firearm, while the other two men grabbed at a bag the victim was holding. According to investigators, that bag was filled with around $12,500 in cash.

The three men jumped into a car, which the victim described as a white Lexus. The men took off toward River Avenue. The victim called the authorities who are still investigating what happened. Anyone with information related to this incident can anonymously report their information to Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

Tips are extremely useful in police investigations, and they have contributed to the 23% drop in robberies in the Bronx’s 44th Precinct. Statistics show that there were 40 more robberies in the same period of time last year than there have been this year so far.

The victim was not harmed in the robbery, which took place just two blocks away from Yankee Stadium. Investigators were able to obtain photographs of the suspects. The suspects are all described as being in their late 20s and around 5’7” to 5’10”. One of the men was spotted wearing a green mask with black spots and a dark blue or black hoodie.

Robbery in New York

In New York, robbery charges are often complex. The severity of your situation typically depends on a variety of factors like the value of the stolen goods, any aggravating factors like violence or using a firearm, and your personal criminal history.

The most severe charge you could face is robbery in the first degree, which is categorized as a violent class B felony. This type of crime comes with a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 25 years. Robbery in the third degree, while less serious, still comes with substantial penalties. This class D felony could result in a minimum of 2.75 years in prison and a maximum of 7 years behind bars.

If you have a prior record or your case involved aggravating factors, then expect your sentence to be increased. Unfortunately, getting convicted of a felony offense has lifelong consequences even after you serve out prison time. Convicted felons are barred from legally possessing firearms, voting, or holding public office.

The only way to prevent these consequences is to avoid being convicted. To increase your chances of a favorable legal outcome, it makes the most sense to hire a quality criminal defense attorney who can help you navigate your situation. The right lawyer will be able to develop a customized legal strategy based on the facts surrounding the alleged crime.

Schedule a free, no-obligation phone call with our team of New York City criminal defense attorneys today to discuss your legal situation in more detail.

In other words, it’s assumed that presidents have some level of immunity for the official acts they commit within the reasonable scope of their authority.

When this decision from the Supreme Court rolled out, many questioned whether this new ruling would apply to the case against Donald Trump. This case alleged that Trump engaged in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results. Indeed, it required a lengthy debate over whether Trump’s actions were committed officially or unofficially.

In an unrelated court case against Trump, prosecutors alleged that the former president falsified business records related to $130,000 in hush money payments that he reportedly provided to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. According to court records, this money was provided in exchange for silence speaking out about Trump during the election.

Trump’s legal team reportedly attempted to utilize the recent Supreme Court ruling about one month after it became official to have the hush money case dismissed entirely.

A judge rejected this notion, asserting that the evidence showed personal acts that served no function to the Executive Branch. What’s more, the judge further asserted that even if prosecutors used evidence related to official acts to prove the president’s personal acts of falsifying business records, then that would not cause any threat of intrusion on the authority or function of the Executive Branch. In a nutshell, he shouldn’t get immunity for those actions since they did not pertain to his official duties.

Once the judge made the call to allow the hush money case to go forward, Trump’s communications director, Steven Cheung, called the decision a violation of the Supreme Court’s decision.

Prosecutors agree that the case should be accommodated for since Trump is set to take office on Jan. 20th, but they also don’t believe that the case should be overturned or dismissed.

Are You Currently Fighting Legal Charges?

Getting charged with a crime in New York is a serious ordeal, and it can be difficult to know how to move forward. Typically, your best option is to speak with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.

The right lawyer will immediately get to work on identifying what you’re being charged with and why you were arrested. They’ll listen to your side of events and weigh that out against the evidence prosecutors or police believe they have against you.

From there, you and your lawyer can work on developing a solid legal strategy to defend yourself against the legal charges. While you won’t be able to use presidential immunity as a defense, our team here at the Bukh Law Firm will help you determine what strategy is likely to work out best based on your specific circumstances.

If you’re ready to get started, then contact us now to schedule a free case evaluation.

Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs is finding out the hard way that not even his level of notoriety can protect him from the law, but that isn’t stopping him from continuing to attempt to subvert justice.

In his latest ploy, P. Diddy has allegedly been attempting to obstruct justice from his jail cell by influencing public opinion and attempting to contact potential witnesses.

According to reports from Prosecutors, P. Diddy made multiple phone calls while incarcerated where he asked family members to contact victims and witnesses. What’s more, he specifically asked these individuals to create “narratives” to influence the jury pool in Diddy’s favor. Diddy also reportedly asked these individuals to engage in specific marketing strategies to potentially sway the public’s opinion and perception of his arrest.

For instance, he asked his family members to create specific videos for social media to celebrate Diddy’s birthday and invoke sympathy for him from the public.

Prosecutors believe this behavior shows that Diddy wanted his family members to blackmail victims and witnesses into either being silent or providing positive testimony in the case.

This recent behavior isn’t a good look for Diddy who reportedly began to immediately break the rules as soon as he was detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He’s also already being charged with silencing victims through blackmail and violence. The fact that he displayed this type of behavior while incarcerated is significant evidence against him.

As a result of the seriousness of the charges and Diddy’s behavior, two judges have agreed that Diddy is a danger to the community and a flight risk, so he hasn’t been granted bail. When Diddy’s lawyers attempted to request bail again, Prosecutors specifically cited Diddy’s recent behavior as proof that he needed to remain behind bars.

Why Your Legal Representation Matters

Diddy’s legal team is working hard and exhausting every legal avenue to help him avoid the worst criminal consequences. Unfortunately, it seems like Diddy’s own behavior is derailing their efforts.

If you get accused of a crime, then you need an equally dedicated legal advocate on your side to fight for you. A quality lawyer can help you better understand your charges and the potential consequences you could face if you’re convicted. Even better, they can help inform you about the legal strategies that might be beneficial in your situation. Equipped with this knowledge, you and your lawyer can work on creating a solid defense strategy that works towards a more favorable outcome for you.

The Bukh Law Firm’s attorneys will fight for you.

Our firm was established over a decade ago, and it’s grown to become one of the best criminal law firms in all of Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs.

Diddy” Combs made his first court appearance during his very publicized trial on sex trafficking allegations. Considering P. Diddy’s notoriety in Hollywood, it’s clear why the star’s arrest and charges have continued to make mainstream headlines for several months.

Diddy is accused of committing egregious sexual crimes over the years, but he is adamant about his innocence. He’s pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Diddy’s charges include racketeering, transportation to engage in prostitution, and sex trafficking. The former rapper is accused of coercing, threatening, drugging, and abusing women in order to perpetuate his sex crimes and keep them hidden from the public.

This isn’t the first time that these allegations have come to light. P. Diddy has faced multiple civil lawsuits over the past year for sexual abuse. On top of that, a surveillance video showing P. Diddy physically attacking his ex-girlfriend went viral last year. Even after the video surfaced, P. Diddy maintained his innocence.

Some say that these allegations are only the tip of P. Diddy’s monumental criminal empire. He’s also accused of drugging unsuspecting women, raping several individuals including potentially minors, setting fire to people’s vehicles, tampering with witnesses once an investigation began, committing domestic abuse for years, and hosting sex trafficking parties where underage minors were subject to horrific, illegal abuse.

During the October 10th hearing, the Judge set a date for the case to begin, which is May 5, 2025.

New York: Sex Trafficking

Under New York law, sex trafficking is considered earning money, social benefits, or advancing in your career as a result of prostituting another person. This could include giving the victim drugs, withholding documents from the person, using force or threats of force, or requiring the person to engage in sex acts to pay off a debt.

If convicted of sex trafficking in New York, then you’ll be guilty of committing a class B felony. Felony convictions result in severe consequences including losing the right to vote, losing the right to carry a firearm, facing restrictions when it comes to getting certain professional licenses, and difficulties finding housing.

On top of that, you’ll face significant social consequences if you’re convicted of sex trafficking. Your personal relationships will likely be impacted by your conviction. You’ll also be listed publicly as a sex offender. This registry will contain your name, address, and a recent photograph of you. According to police, 34-year-old Jason Jackson and his 34-year-old girlfriend, Olga Kirshenbaum, were both found shot to death inside of their apartment on January 31st.

According to authorities, gunshots were heard by nearby neighbors at around 10 P.M on Sunday, but the incident went unreported to police. A few days later on Wednesday, a worried relative who couldn’t get in touch with the couple showed up to their apartment. When they couldn’t get in, they contacted a locksmith to open up the unit. Once inside, she discovered both victims. Investigators later confirmed that both individuals suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

Police also discovered a handgun next to Jackson’s body. Based on these facts, the authorities believe that Jackson shot Kirshenbaum and then turned the gun on himself.

Nearby residents and community members all reported being devastated by the news, and they aren’t the only ones who will miss the couple. Police say that Kirshenbaum was the owner of a very successful business, Rags to Riches Consulting. She provided solid financial advice to creative entrepreneurs and artists. Her clients lovingly called her “the Money Whisperer,” and relied on her consulting services to help boost their small businesses.

What To Do If You Get Charged in a Fatal Shooting

So far, investigators have reported the situation as a murder-suicide, but investigations remain ongoing. Multiple people close to the accused have come out in shock and disbelief regarding the murder-suicide narrative. According to the accused’s next-door neighbor, “[it] couldn’t have been him…There’s no way he would do something like that.”

What’s more, neighbors confirmed that they never heard any fighting coming from the seemingly in-love couple’s home. Local police had never been called out to the couple’s home to resolve any issues.

Statistics show that deaths related to homicidal and suicidal gunshot wounds are fairly common in the U.S., and both of these incidents can look similar. Homicides can look like suicides, and vice versa. That said, police will likely need to continue to fully investigate the situation to ensure that they’ve made the correct initial determination.

If someone else was involved in the fatal shooting, then that person could be charged with murder. In general, if you’re potentially facing such serious charges, then it’s necessary that you reach out to a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible to get informed regarding your rights and options.

As of now, the officer, Philip Fioranelli, pleaded not guilty and is not taking any responsibility for what happened during the incident.

According to reports, Fioranelli was working as a paid security officer at a lower Manhattan parking garage on May 18. The day prior Aqil Alshimary, the alleged victim, had reportedly purchased a multiday parking ticket. When Alshimary arrived the following day, he expected to be able to pick up his car without any problems, but an agent watching the lot wanted him to produce the ticket he bought as proof.

When Alshimary couldn’t produce the ticket, a security supervisor called Fioranelli out to the scene to address the problem. Fioranelli told Alshimary that he would have to leave if he couldn’t show his ticket, but the man refused to do so. Eventually, video footage shows a skirmish break out between the two, and Fioranelli tripped over a nearby bicycle rack.

In response, Fioranelli can be seen pulling out his NYPD-issued firearm and pointing it at Alshimary. The victim completely stopped resisting and complied with Fioranelli’s orders. He laid face-down on the ground and put both of his hands behind his back.

At that point, things go south. Fioranelli reportedly mounted the detainee, took out his pepper spray, and sprayed multiple bursts of pepper spray into Alshimary’s eyes and mouth. Even worse, he allegedly used his own hand to intentionally spread the chemicals all over Alshimary’s face. A few seconds later, the officer sprayed more bursts of pepper spray into the victim’s face.

Fioranelli then reportedly gets distracted by getting the pepper spray in his own eyes before he again sprays the victim. The victim was later charged with assault and harassment.

Prior to this incident, Fioranelli had been a part of the police force since 2004. He was immediately suspended following the investigation of the incident.

Criminal Official Misconduct: What Does it Mean?

Under New York’s laws, it’s considered official misconduct when a public servant, like a police officer, uses their position of power to harm someone else or obtain a personal benefit in relation to their official duties. In New York City, getting convicted of official misconduct is punishable by up to one year in jail. A conviction could also result in fines up to $1,000.

On top of suffering from criminal penalties, the charges will also have professional consequences. In most cases, getting charged with official misconduct will result in a suspension or termination of your job. If you get convicted, then you may not be able to obtain another public servant job in the future.

Police officers aren’t the only officials that can get charged with official misconduct. Public servants includes government employees, judges, and more. If you’ve recently been charged with official misconduct in New York, then our attorneys can help.
