Think a Trump Rally is Violent?
In Asheville, North Carolina on September 13, a Donald Trump rally turned violent as Trump supporters clashed with anti-Trump protesters in the street outside of the city’s civic auditorium — Cellular One Center.
Asheville, a mountain town in the western part of the state isn’t the only city to witness violence at Trump rallies, and America isn’t the only country seeing an increase in violent clashes between the far-right and far-left.
Greece and Germany are two of the latest to experience light night fires, beatings, and increasingly violent protests.
A neo-Nazi group, Golden Dawn, is behind much of the carnage and is thought by some observers to be the root of most of the violent protests continuing to sweep across Europe.
In September 2013, a famous — in Greece at least — rapper Killah-P was stabbed to death. Known in the non-rap environment as Pavlos Fyssas, the musician was a supporter of violent Antifa groups
Following the murder, the police went on a Golden Dawn hunt. Offices were broken into, individuals’ homes searched while anyone with a “nationalist look” was stopped and question.
In one instance, Soptiris Develekos, 26 and an organizer for Golden Dawn, witnessed his parent’s house raided despite the fact he lives with his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, the political establishment is divided. Half wants to outlaw Golden Dawn and the other half is trying to destroy it “by any means necessary.”
In the weeks after the murder, Golden Dawn lost voters, but not a large number. The group still polled high enough to be a problem for the conservative party.
Giorgos Roupakias and members of Golden Dawn are on trial now in Greece. The trial is expected to wrap-up on September 27 according to GreekReporter.com
Antifa is shorthand for (militant) anti-fascists.
The term often applies to middle-class socialist/communist/anarchist white boys who rebel against nationalists or fascists. They believe they are rebelling against the establishment while holding its ultra-politically correct views.
Antifa’s history is one of only disliking racism — when carried out by whites. They have not shown they have the chutzpah to stand against anti-white racism. This leads many people, on the right, to call them “traitors” and many call them morons.
The majority are teenagers and college students. They grow out of the fad when the have to start paying taxes.
Fisherman Assault Trial
On September 9, 2016, the trial against members of Golden Dawn continued. The court heard testimony from an Egyptian fisherman who was allegedly assaulted by the group’s members in June 2012.
Ebarak Abuzeid told the court, through a translator, he still feared the group and could not walk through the streets — four years after the attack.
Abuzeid told the court he was sleeping in Perama on the roof of a house in which he was staying. Two or three persons arrived on the roof carrying wooden clubs.
One struck him in the face, breaking his teeth. Abuzeid was left with significant head injuries.
“They told me they had come to kill me,” Abuzeid said. “They left when they believed I was dead.”
Abuzeid thinks his attackers were members of the Neo-Nazi group, Golden Dawn.
Golden Dawn Clashes With Migrants
According to the National Post dozens of law enforcement members intervened as members of Golden Dawn collided with asylum-seekers in eastern Germany.
Bautzen, a town between Dresden and the Polish boundary, witnessed earlier racist occurrences according to the report.
Roughly 80 Germans and 20 migrants collided with each other Wednesday night as officers tried to put distance between the groups.
The far-right crowd shouted nationalist chants and trailed the asylum-seekers as they moved to their shelter. Law enforcement officials attempted to keep the groups separate.
Bautzen Mayor Alexander Ahrens spoke out against the rampage and committed to deploying more police to deter imminent aggression.
“I’m shocked and concerned about the acceleration,” Ahrens wrote on Facebook. “I condemn the increasing violence between the diverse groups.”
