Here’s a review of the most dangerous cities in America based on the annual murder rates per 1000 inhabitants. Cities included in this review are incorporated municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants and the murder rates for the purpose of this review are the sum of each city’s murders and non-negligent manslaughter divided by the total population of that area and multiplied by 1000.
The rankings include demographic information like population density, population age, median household income, educational attainment and racial composition and these factors are correlated with crime.
The review clearly shows that residents of the dangerous cities are poorer, less educated and belong to the Black and Hispanic segments. The most dangerous cities are not necessarily densely populated or younger.
